No, it’s not a Peeping Tomacina (is that the female version of Tom?), it just me in my natural habitat - nature and photography! Anyway…what I was going for here was called a “shoot through" - what’s that, you ask? It’s where you focus on your subject with some blurry objects in the foreground. See the example below.
It’s a fun and creative way to use your environment to make a good photo, great! I love playing with my surroundings when I work. It’s fun and challenging to see what works, but it also helps to document those little details that might be missed due to all the excitement and high energy of a wedding.
If you’re an aspiring wedding photographer, I highly recommend that you work as a 2nd shooter/associate. I always find that I have time to “play” when I shoot 2nd. Even though I have my own business and have been photographing weddings for over a decade, I STILL 2nd shoot because you should never stop learning. I learn something new EVERY TIME I photograph a wedding - and I hope that never stops!
