I love photographing weddings!
Being a photographer for close to 15 years, I have made friends in the industry that won’t touch weddings with a 10-foot pole! I am on the other end of the pole because I LOVE wedding photography! Yes, it’s fast-paced, high stress, and long hours, but for me that’s more of an adrenalized rush - which is FUN!
I mean, how many people have a job that allows them to become part of someone else’s family for the day :) I get to be in the thick of it all - getting ready, the first looks, the hugs, the tears, the laughter, and sometimes even the drama!
There are quite a few parts to wedding photography, the bride and groom being the most important part. However, there is another part that sometimes gets lost in the shuffle, until they see the photos afterward - THE WEDDING DETAILS! The shoes, flowers, jewelry, veil, dress, make-up, hair - you know - all the things that make a wedding add up to 1000s of dollars. Well, those things deserve to be highlighted too and I LOVE the details. I love getting creative with an inanimate object and making it center stage too!
Don’t get me wrong, I NEVER take time away from the couple, but when the bride is getting her make-up done, for instance, do you really need 50 pics of her getting her blush and eyelashes applied! So after I snap a handful of good “getting ready photos, I then sneak off to photograph the dress, shoes, jewelry, etc BEFORE the bride begins to get dressed. Knowing the general timeline of a wedding is KEY to making sure you don’t miss anything!
The details aren’t ALL just the bride’s though, there are plenty of details from the guys too, even though they typically blow right over them…lol! Kidding, kinda! The guys have it going on too…cufflinks, toasts, bowties, groom’s gifts, funky socks, cowboy boots and SO much more! (and let’s be honest, it’s probably the one and only time you’ll ever wear a bowtie, so let’s document that stuff)! Check it out…
After all, you’ve both spent an enormous amount of time and money making it all count, so make sure it’s ALL documented! Lastly, sometimes you’ll forget as the years pass by and one day you’ll wonder,…what did the wedding topper look like, honey? What did the card look like that I have him? Love, we’re my shoes white-white or off-white? And guess what? Having Soulshine Photography photograph your wedding, our pictures will be your answer :)
