Fantasy Photos

I have ALWAYS been fascinated with fairies, pixies and magical places. Whether it was a movie I saw when I was a kid or when we visited Ireland and experienced fairy rings (respectfully, of course) - I am NOT ashamed to admit that - I believe! I am sure it started with Tinkerbell and her multiple layers of personality. If you read up on her history, she was more naughty than sweet and innocent. I collected fairies as a teenager and believe it or not, I STILL have my bubble fairy - she has survived multiple moves over the years and the paper-thin bubble that she sits upon hasn’t broken (knock on wood). Then I had three little girls of my own!!! WOULD they love fairies as much as I do, I hope, I hope, I hope - and they do (thank goodness)!

So what about magical creatures do I love? Do I think they’re real? Well, I believe in fairy energies, as well as, other energies, but I do have to admit that if one decided to land on my should and tinker with my hair, I would be a bit stunned :)

So, as one does, I decided that I wanted to learn the art of Photoshop magic and of course, I used my girls as models. There is quite a lot of work that goes into making these look realistic.

You have to pay attention to the light in the fantasy background photo and photograph the model with a similarly directed light. Light and shadows are what will make it look more realistic.

Then you have to mimic the body/hand placement, as I did in this one. I had my older daughter stand with her hand placed in the air, as though she really had her and on the wall. This wouldn’t work well with small children, but older kids seem to get it.

So I will keep practicing, with my kids and those of my friends. Maybe someday with a little help from some pixie dust from the golden falls in Pixie Hollow, I can offer this as a new service :)
