You must have amazing pictures of your own kids…

Well, yes and no. I get this ALL the time and you’d think it would be true, however, as with any mom (or dad), it’s not always true. I am a mom first and photographer second, so life constantly gets in the way! I won’t lie! When they were smaller it was much easier, but with a strong-willed 10-year-old and a set of 6-year-old twins - they have opinions and ideas of their own and it’s rarely congruent with mine. I would love to drag ALL my camera equipment with me when going out, but let’s be honest, my iPhone is small, light and does a decent job. With that said though, it will NEVER compensate for a professional camera and photographer, so let’s get that out there ;-)

We have the most beautiful tree next to our home and I will be honest, I don’t even know what kind it is, but for about two weeks in the spring when it is adorned with beautiful pink flowers - and the smell!! Eeeeekkkkk! So today, with their messy hair and self-chosen outfits, we headed out to the tree to take some photos.

My oldest girl, above, acts more like a first-born, even though she does have a 24-year old brother. With that kind of age difference, I’ve often thought that the birth order characteristics must start over. She’s a lot like me, out-spoken, strong-willed, and smart (definitely smarter than I was at her age). She will change the world - I promise you that!

The twins, above, couldn’t be more opposite in personality and physical appearance. One is an attention-seeker, loud, giggly, bull-in-a-china-shop, kind of girl and the other is quiet, reserved, soft-spoken and deeply observant. They are the “odd couple” for sure, but they are close in a twinning kind of way.
